Southbank

Morning coffee

I like taking my friends to the places I love, especially if they haven’t seen them yet! I needed to start my trip day with a coffee, so my happy face quickly arrived.
Every time I visit Southbank without checking out what will happen on that day I have a nice surprise and a great time of course. The weather was perfect and I got my first bit of tan.
So my walk started from St Pauls, through Millenium Bridge and a quick stop at Tate, just to catch some positive energy I need for the coming days.

Every time Picasso brings a great smile on my face and this time there was another painting, which I don’t remember seeing before but I was looking at it for quite a while.

Hip Hop Hoorah

Karel Appel ‘Hip, Hop, Hoorah!’ – What is great that Appel often took inspiration from children’s drawings, believing that ‘the child in man is all that’s strongest, most receptive, most open and unpredictable’.
I think that his work is a great idea to teach children about colours! Amazing work:

Soooo Southbank, have a look for yourself:

More information what is happening there daily: Southbank Centre

As part of Festival of Neighbourhood you can find at Southbank The Queen’s Walk Window Gardens, created from reclaimed windows and it encourages people to grow plant in window boxes. Plenty of workshops and information about plants.

I want more sunny days!

Festivals and The Vintage Kilo Sale

Judy's Stamp

Summer is round the corner and festival clothes are well needed. I went to The Vintage Kilo Sale organised by Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fairs to find some pieces.

It wasn’t as big as last time, however I arrived on the end of the second day. I thought I will not find many things, however I couldn’t resist… .

I haven’t been in Dalston for ages and I know I need to visit again, especially on a Saturday as on the way you can find some good Charity Shops or Beyond Retro with a cafe. I also saw a street fair and red arrows on the sky.

Red Arrows

I was planning to go back to Dalston after the fair, however my bags were too heavy so I went straight home.

There are so many festivals to choose from: Wireless, Lovebox, Isle of Wight, Itunes, Latitude, British Summer Time, T in the Park, Open East …  or street parties and roof parties. Can’t wait, just hopefully the sun will be shining to enjoy them.

Some clothes I found:

Another VIntage Kilo Sale will be in the York Hall at Bethnal Green.

My 50th Post and The Vintage Furniture Flea

The Vintage Furniture Flea

Wow post number 50! Thank you everyone for visiting my blog.
It’s been a great journey and I have enjoyed writing each and every post.

Yesterday it was another great vintage market from Judy’s Vintage Fair at York Hall – The Vintage Furniture Flea. There were such a lot of treasures from all range of furniture, lamps, telephones, mirrors, clocks to small house decorations like posters, glass, frames, signs, suitcases, boardgames or tins and many more. I was looking forward to getting something, however instead of furniture I bought two pair of vintage trousers – I think I am a clothes addict or maybe I just born in the wrong era.

And what is more on the fairs like that you can spot well known people
– this time Florence Welch!

Box Park

BOXPARK brickmum

Box Park is the world first pop-up mall based in the heart of Shoreditch. It was a really good idea to bring small mall to this part of London with creative shops, mix fashion, art, food, music and entertainment. It opened in 2011 and was planned to be there for five years, so not that long left !! It would be sad without Box Park as it fits well with the busy Shoreditch area, with the construction of shipping containers just under the Shoreditch Overground bridge.
Very often BOXPARK offers 20% discount in their shops, check the app for details:
BOXPARK APP IOS or  BOXPARK APP android

Don’t forget to visit Havana Club Rum for a nice drink.

More info: BOXPARK

“BOXPARK is not some run-of-the-mall shopping centre. It’s a living, fertile community of brands packed with talent, innovation and attitude that puts creativity and fashion back where they belong: on the street”

I had a great lunch and then off to make some pictures of street art around BOXPARK…
