Manet: Portraying Life

Sunny day at Royal Academy of Arts. The Spring is on its way!
Edouard Manet exhibition focuses on Manet way of portraying life.
Manet painted his family, friends and the literary, political and artistic figures of his day,
giving life not only to his subjects but also to Parisian society of the time.

More information at the Royal Academy of Arts website: Manet

What I also like about Manet that he showed interest of fashion. He invents modernity.
His canvases look unfinished. He uses pure colours, considerably influencing the impressionist painters.
“He is himself. He paints what he sees, as he sees it, and he sees truly” Ernest Hache

My favourites:

If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet, on 11th of April Royal Academy of Arts will be showing a film – behind-the-scenes footage of the Manet’s exhibition preparation and detailed biography of Manet. Have a look for more info: Exhibition Screen
